LGBTQIA Counseling

It’s okay to need help, when you’re ready, I’d be happy to take this journey alongside you.

LGBTQIA Community

As a Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans*, Queer (LGBTQ) affirmative therapist in the Los Angeles area, I have the honor of sitting with people as they navigate the layers of gender, sexuality, culture, and race that shape their everyday experiences.

Over the last 16 years, I’ve worked in this community both as a therapist and as an advocate. I’ve witnessed and fought against the oppression and discrimination the community experiences. If you identify outside of heteronormativity, it is invaluable to work with a therapist who grasps and affirms the breadth of gender and sexual identities.

Sexual Identity

Whether you are questioning your sexuality or identify outside of heteronormativity, it’s imperative to get quality support. Growing up in a heteronormative society, you’re made to feel othered. In our therapeutic relationship, you will experience belonging, understanding, and inclusion.

Gender Identity

Questioning your gender can come with intense amounts of shame, fear, and anxiety. Together, we will unpack the elements that create these feelings and hold space to explore gender. As a trans-affirming therapist, I want you to recognize that in a cisgender-dominated world, your lived experience matters. See here for specific gender-affirming information.

LGBTQIA Relationships

Straight relationships are well-represented in our society, while LGBTQIA relationships often are not. Therapy is a great space to explore the types of relationships you would like to build.

WPATH - Letters for gender affirming surgeries

If you are considering a medical transition, I can provide mental health clearance letters that adhere to the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) standards.

Helping the LGBTQIA Community

While the world is seeing a movement toward LGBTQIA inclusion, discrimination and marginalization still run rampant. Individuals questioning their sexuality or gender identity can face a myriad of issues that can be a significant source of stress.

Given that LGBTQ individuals are twice as likely as the general population to experience a mental health condition, and trans folks are four times as likely, it’s crucial that mental health care is culturally inclusive. Whether you’ve identified outside of heteronormativity for years or are just beginning this journey, my aim is to help you embrace who you are and feel well cared for.
